The 2018 MotoGP season is finally underway and the first round held in Qatar did not disappoint. Both Movistar Yamaha riders made their way from the back of the grid in incredible fashion with Valentino Rossi fighting for the win and Maverick Viñales finishing sixth after a difficult start.

ROSSI’S PERSISTENCE DELIVERS PODIUM RESULT IN DOHA
MotoGP fans got all the action they asked for, and then some, at tonight’s Grand Prix of Qatar. Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Valentino Rossi fought hard at the front of the field and duplicated his third place of last year at the Losail International Circuit. Maverick Viñales had to start from further back on the grid than he liked, but made up for it showcasing a blistering race pace that carried him all the way to sixth place.
Movistar Yamaha MotoGP?s Valentino Rossi landed his first podium finish of the 2018 MotoGP season with a strong third place at the Losail International Circuit. Maverick Viñales also battled for all he was worth and rode a superb catch-up race from 15th to 6th place, earning himself some crucial championship points.
Rossi had a lightning fast start from eighth place and stormed to fourth on a perfect opening lap. With a podium place in his grasp, he closed in on Dani Pedrosa and cruised past him at the end of the second lap on the start-finish straight, before making a text-book move, breaking hard into the first corner.
