Ride 3 Video Game Available Nov. 8 for PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One
Milestone‘s motorcycle racing simulation video game Ride returns this fall with a number of significant updates. Launching Nov. 8 for Windows PC/Steam, Playstation 4 and Xbox One, Ride 3 offers more than 230 real-world motorcycles, a dozen new tracks and a new graphics engine that hopefully addresses one of the biggest problems affecting the first two editions of the game: slow load times.
We reviewed the first Ride game in 2015, and were impressed with its large roster of current and classic motorcycles and the ability to upgrade and customize each bike. While we enjoyed the level simulation the game offered, we found the long loading times incredibly frustrating. Before each race, we had to wait a couple of minutes for the game to load a 3D rendering of our chosen motorcycle. We then had to wait a few more minutes to load the track before we could actually get to the racing.
For Ride 3, Milestone opted to use the Unreal Engine 4, the graphics engine powering some of the gaming industries most popular titles. Hopefully, the tried and tested graphics engine will significantly cut down on the wait times. We’ll have to see for ourselves, but Milestone does say the new engine allows Ride 3 to render graphics to a higher level of detail while opening up a new night racing mode.
