Marc Marquez to miss opening GP

The Repsol Honda HRC MotoGP team have just announced that Marc Marquez will be watching the first round of the 2021 MotoGP season from the side lines. Or, more likely, from home. The press release said he made the decision with his medical team, however I suspect they made the decision for him. If it?d been up to him, I reckon we?d be seeing him on the grid at round one.
The announcement comes 15 weeks after surgery for an infected pseudoarthrosis of the right humerus, whatever that means. We?d previously been told of a favourable clinical position, but by the sounds of things, it can?t have been that favourable.
The arm injury that caused Marc Marquez to miss the entire 2020 MotoGP season was sustained in a crash last year, but has been exacerbated by all sorts of complications and infections in the meantime. In fact it?s been quite difficult to keep up with it all, if the truth?s known.

Whilst the news won?t come as much of a surprise to most, it?s a crying shame that we?re going to have to wait even longer to see one of the most talented motorcycle racers ever, giving it the bigguns?. On the plus side, the racing in 2020 was some of the best we?ve seen for a long time, so let?s hope there?ll be more of the same in MM93?s absence.
