Jason Anderson Nabs Monster Energy Supercross Triple Crown Win in Atlanta
This past weekend saw the second installment of the all-new Triple Crown Event format at round 9 in Atlanta of the 2018 Monster Energy Supercross season. Jason Anderson was able to pretty much comfortably cruise to the overall win with a 2-1-4 finish, and extend his overall points lead. GEICO Honda’s Team Honda HRC fill-in rider, Christian Craig, had an impressive showing on the CRF450R, pulling two holeshots and ultimately finishing fifth on the night with 6-7-5 finishes. Marvin Musquin and Eli Tomac rounded out the podium at the end of the night. The track however, did claim several victims over the course of the day. Justin Hill, Weston Peick, Dylan Ferrandis all suffered significant crashes and injuries, however Peick was able to continue racing. The 250SX class saw some tight battling between Monster Energy / Pro Circuit / Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner and Rockstar Energy / Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Zach Osborne, with Forkner edging out Osborne with a final lap pass for the night’s overall win. Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM?s Jordon Smith put in a great ride to stand on the third step of the podium, too. Racing heads south to Daytona Beach this weekend for round 10.
