Eli Tomac Takes Inaugural Monster Energy Supercross Triple Crown Win in Anaheim
Round three of Monster Energy AMA Supercross continues to further shake things up at Anaheim 2. Last year’s outdoor champion finally takes an overall win and Jason Anderson extends his points lead. Cole Seely had an awesome breakout performance, ultimately landing on the second step and Weston Peick continues to crush it. The rest of the 450SX pack was completely jumbled up with big-timers Barcia, Roczen and Musquin finishing eighth, ninth and thirteenth overall, respectively.
The 250SX class proved to be more consistent with Joey Savatgy taking the overall, followed by Shane McElrath and Christian Craig rounding out the podium. AC92 just missed the podium in fourth, Aaron Plessinger lost his red plate and rookie Chase Sexton had another great run, leading most of the the third main event. Begin Press Release:
ANAHEIM, CA ? January 21, 2018 ? In front of a sell-out crowd of 45,050 fans inside Angel Stadium, Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship, hosted the historical first-ever Triple Crown Event in Anaheim on January 20 for Round 3 of the 2018 season.
Monster Energy Kawasaki?s Eli Tomac captured the overall event win at Round 3 of the series. The Triple Crown, which was introduced in 2018, is a three-city showdown starting at Anaheim 2 where both the 250SX and 450SX Classes compete in three Main Events.
