Boys and their toys: A BMW G310 from VTR
As the dedicated custom arm of a premium BMW motorcycle dealer in Switzerland, VTR Customs is used to working on high-end Bavarian machinery. We’ve seen a number of classy BMW R nineTs roll out of their shop, and their race bikes are a regular fixture at European 1/8 mile sprint races.
So why on Earth would they customize BMW’s littlest ‘adventure commuter’?the entry-level G 310 GS" According to shop boss, Dani Weidman; for fun.
?In a country with the highest population of BMW M Series cars per citizen,? quips Dani, ?and where you usually sell high-power bikes with all the optional extras, the G 310 has a tough life!?
?But at VTR, we think the G 310 is a very agile, fun to ride bike, which we love for short, after-work ride outs. So we thought we’d make the G 310 more popular in Switzerland.?
The basic concept came together quickly: a blend of classic off-road cues, with bright colors and a playful urban vibe. But with enough of the original ‘GS’ DNA to inspire the young?or young at heart?to leave the GPS at home, and scoot off into the great outdoors.
Dani had an ulterior motive too. VTR’s newest apprentice, Nico, had yet to cut his teeth on a custom build?and the team wanted to test out his skills. ?And check if there is a sparkle in his eyes when it comes to customizing,? says Dani.
