Bosch Develops Vehicle-to-Vehicle Safety System Prototype
Bosch announced it has developed a prototype vehicle-to-vehicle communications system to let motorcycles and other vehicles communicate with each other to reduce the risk of accidents. Bosch describes its technology as a “digital protection shield” that could prevent nearly a third of all motorcycle accidents
Bosch Expands Its Portfolio Of Motorcycle Technology
The system uses wireless technology to exchange data with other nearby vehicles up to ten times per second, and gives both drivers and riders a warning, allowing them to be more defensive before approaching a potentially dangerous situation.
Technological Strategies To Motorcycle Safety
Bosch worked with partners Autotalks, Cohda Wireless and Ducati. The demonstration video below uses a Multistrada which Ducati seems to like to use as a test bed for new technologies such as its semi-active Skyhook suspension, variable valve timing and the Dainese D-Air airbag jacket.
