Here at Rider, we understand the benefit of two-wheeled vehicles. From leisure, basic transportation and tools for emergency services, motorcycles can adapt to any situation. Run by volunteers, the riders of the Leicestershire & Rutland Blood Bikes team deliver blood, plasma, platelets, samples and other medical items to public health organizations around England’s Leicestershire and Rutland counties aboard their motorcycles. 

As you might imagine, these riders put a lot of miles on their machines and tires. Cooper Tire Europe announced that it would be supporting the Leicestershire & Rutland Blood Bikes fleets with Avon Spirit ST motorcycle tires and Avon ZT7 van tires to further its fleet on the road. 

During normal times, public health workers would use taxis and couriers to transport life-saving medical items around. However, with the volunteer and free service provided by Leicestershire and Rutland Blood Bikes, more funds can be aimed at the United Kingdom?s National Health Service.
In the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the blood bikes were used as a vital lifeline for COVID-19 test samples between hospitals in Leicestershire. They also were an integral part of a network of blood bikes across the East Midlands, working as part of the regional response by the NHS to increase sampling and testing. The Leicestershire & Rutland Blood Bikes team rose to the challenge posed by the global pandemic and now operate 24/7.
