2021 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT
When Suzuki let slip that there?s a new model coming, I almost let myself get excited. Could it be a new GSX-R1000" Well, it turns out that, indeed, is too much to ask for. Rather than give us what we?ve all been asking for, for a good few years now, they?ve just announced the release of yet another GSX-S1000. This time, a GT version. A GSX-S1000GT, as it were.
It?s a new sports-tourer they say, ?designed to take riders further, faster, without sacrificing comfort and practicality, powering your journey in style.? Whether this new GSX-S is stylish or not, I?ll leave up to you. Beauty?s in the eye? and all that.
Whatever you think of the GSX-S1000GT?s looks, it is fairly trick compared to the bog-stock GSX-S, in a touring-bike kind of way. You get a big screen, a lovely upright riding position, a soft seat at ?wind cheating? bodywork, whatever that means. You also get a bunch of ?leccy rider aids, including all the normal stuff like rider modes, ABS and traction control, but also cruise control, a two-way quickshifter and smartphone connectivity; all controllable via the new 6.5 inch TFT dash.
Engine-wise, the superbike boys aren?t going to get overly aroused by the 150bhp, or the 106Nm of torque, but Suzuki are saying that with the new, compact silencer, it sounds mean as fudge. I?ll look forward to finding out.
They?ll be available in Suzuki dealerships in November this year (2021), and will cost £11,599.
