Michael Dunlop set a new Supersport TT lap record en route to his 17th Isle of Man TT win and second of the week. Post-race celebrations were muted however, after confirmation that racer Adam Lyon had died in a crash on the third lap of the race.
Dunlop set the new lap record on the second go-around of the Mountain Course, recording an average speed of 129.197 mph and eclipsing his own Supersport TT class lap record of 128.666 mph set in 2013.

Dean Harrison finished in second, spending much of the final lap close to Dunlop. This almost cost him, as the duo eased up near the end, allowing Peter Hickman to finish just 0.258 seconds behind in third.
