2016-2017 Moto Guzzi V7 III and V9 Models Recalled for Brake Fluid Leak

Piaggio is recalling 2017 Moto Guzzi V7 III models and 2016-2017 Moto Guzzi V9 models because of potential brake fluid leaks. The recall affects 1,139 units in the U.S., including the V7 III Racer, V7 III Stone, V7 III Special, V9 Bobber and V9 Roamer.
According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the front ABS hose may move out of position and come in contact with the engine’s secondary air system connection (the highlighted circle in the picture below shows the ABS unit and the secondary air system in the area between the cylinders). This can cause a leak in brake fluid, and a loss of front brake pressure.
Piaggio received one report of this problem in Europe on April 3. There have been no reports of failures or crashes related to this issue.
Moto Guzzi dealers will inspect recalled units and install a pipe mount that will keep the ABS hose in place and away from the secondary air system. If a brake line on a recalled unit shows sign of wear, the dealer will also replace the brake line. Motorcycles produced after May 31, 2017, will have the remedy installed during production.
